What are KDF® filter media and where are they used?
Water is life, and the quality of your drinking water plays a crucial role in your health and well-being.
Our innovative KDF® or GAC/KDF water filter systems reduce or remove a wide range of impurities from your drinking water by means of an oxidation or reduction process (redox). The unique combination of copper and zinc in KDF filter systems creates an electrochemical reaction. During this reaction, electrons are transferred between molecules and new elements are created. Harmful impurities are converted into harmless components. Free chlorine, for example, is converted into harmless, water-soluble chloride. Similarly, some heavy metals such as copper, lead, mercury and others react by depositing on the surface of the filter medium, effectively removing them from the water supply. From chlorine and chlorine by-products, heavy metals, drug residues and microplastics to bacteria, viruses and other microbiological pollutants.
